Yay I am Cyclops!!!

You scored as Cyclops. Cyclops is the team leader of the X-Men, and a skilled one at that. He loves Jean Grey very much. He's a strict and sometimes uptight leader, but he believes in his cause and he knows what he's fighting for... Peace between Mutants and Humans. Powers: Optic blasts

ReXiew (Don't read if you haven't watched the X-Men: The Last Stand)

I've fulfilled the anticipation that had built up since year 2000. The X-Men trilogy has completed tonight, for me.

I was very excited about the third and last instalment The Last Stand. I had watched the preview trailer every single day. I had also been reading others' blog and thanks to that - I got to sit through the credit rolling and saw how would the next X-MEN movie be (is there EVER gonna be one?). There will be many possibilities. Spin-off for wolverine is already on the way with script writers asked to come up with stories.

Reconciliating my feelings and emotions for the film tonight. The first shock came when my Cyclops was killed!!! And you know, followed by Professor Xavier and in the end Jean Grey! It was devastating for me. Cylops and Jean are my most most most favourite characters of all the X-Men. Her power and their love - transcending and inter-galactic and inter-timelines.

I guess most fans would be satisfied - I was mesmerised by the CGs and shocked by the story line, not less than the sheer strength Magneto exhibited when he totally lifted the Golden Gate Bridge (were they at San Fran? Oh yea that's where Alcatraz Prison is; I learned that from Charmed). Jean's split personality Phoenix surfacing menacingly after being rescued by Cyclops, only to be killed by her. Ironic isn't it, she was killed by another man who loved her, in the end. I think having something you have no control over - could be a curse.

Ororo was showing off a couple of times too with her spinning. Somehow I have always not been satisfied by the portrayal of Storm's powers. As if she's baking cake she had to warm the oven, seemingly. I don't understand why couldn't she just call a bolt of thunder at her fingertips. She should be able to do that. This, of all the differences from the original comic, is the one thing that I cannot tolerate. She's supposed to be the Goddess of the weather. With the time taken to do the eye-rolling and the arms-raising, just send a fucking lightning bolt to fry Callisto's sorry ass (and stud)!!!

Glad to see Kitty Pryde in action. She was the cute young one (who scorned Juggernaut with dickhead) with her phasing-through-solid-matter power. Not much of Collosus though - the Russian steelman. The fight between Iceman and Pyro was a good one. Rogue gave in to the cure thinking that she was off the hook. Imagining when her X-gene gets de-suppressed while she's being intimate with Bobby (Iceman)...He's gonna have a helluva good time!!

Luckily the Beast was made into quite an animal, the movements I mean. I was hoping that he would move like how he should in the comic. I can only attribute Angel's appearance to the cure, and according to some blogger, sex appeal. The only thread is his father being the scientist who invented the so-called cure. Anyway, I am not very fond of Angel.

Moving on to the bad guys. Magneto, as I mentioned above, was magnificient up till the very end, before he regretting telling Wolverine that he never learned his lessons. He's actually quite a real-life portrayal of some public figures, present and past. Some political leaders go to great extent, sacrificing their own kinds (by that I mean all HUMAN), just to get more power.

Even though there were many bad guys, I don't find them worth mentioning. Except perhaps, Mystique. She must be very happy when she finds out she can turn blue, or in that matter, into anyone, again.

It's quite safe to say that Wolverine's spin-off is on the way but how will they structure the story I have no idea. How about bringing out her Japanese gf? Maybe...

So now with all the spoilers out... In short, I am on a bitter sweet plane now. I won't know how will the movie be if it was directed by Bryan Singer. Perhaps for completeness' sake he should have done the job. Brett Ratner balanced the dramatic effects and morale of the story (i.e. you can't deny who you are; it's not a disease) pretty well. He has also slipped on possibilities for future X-Men projects. Storyline wise there's nothing much to say about - it's a 90-minute movie, I am not demanding anything more. They did blend in the Dark-Phoenix saga line, to say the slightest.

Another POP

In regards to my earlier post on celebrity pregnancies of the east and west...the Eastern Mummies have probably lost...given Faye Wong is still trying to work her way to and fro the hospital to avoid the dogs. It's never easy for Faye, with reporters from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Amazing, her star power is still quite of value to the press eh?

I, for one, am not too keen on her popping out another toddler =P. I rather she works on a next album instead. Just like all the the other Divas such as Kylie Minogue and Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.. Oh please save Britney from K-Fed. I hope she still can be re-invented for her career. Not everyone is as re-inventive like Magde the come-back queen of all times. If she can do it she has to do it fast. Popping out another spawn of the K-Fed line is utterly a good way of ur money down the drain (not being mean but with parents like that, might as well).

Steering back to our topic - Gwen Stefani has given birth to a baby boy - news from Pink - named Kingston James McGregor Rossdale.

Oh shit...it's falling off

I am talking about my hair. No, I am not balding. It just stress. Everytime when exam is around the corner, my hair falls off more than usual. For anyone's sake, my hair seldom drops unless it's being chopped off by a hairdresser. But now, as I am burning my ass for exam, whenever I touch my hair, one or two strands of hair will be gone with the touch.

Not a "Houstan, we have a problem" kinda problem but just thought you might wanna know...

it's the X-night

Watching X-Men: The Last Stand tonight. Can't tell you how excited I am from the sick bed (yea got a bit of indigestion yesterday and threw and a couple of times to clear my stomach). Review later

Happily Taxed

Received some sort of receipts from my employer. I am very happy. Weird kinda happy. I have been taxed. Haha...I am weird!! I am happier than when I was first paid. Hahaha...

The Kazakhstan Thong

I guess most of my readers wouldn't know who this guy was. I knew him from the MTV Europe Awards 2005 as he was the host. I thought this man had the balls to pick on Magde following her performance with "That singer before me. Who was it? It was very courageous of MTV to start the show with a genuine transvestite, he was very convincing. It was only his hands and his testi satchels that gave it away".

Oh his name was Borat Sagdiyev btw. More of him at the Award here if you care for a giggle or two.

Quoting from wikipedia:

Borat often discusses his family members with the people he interviews. Borat's sister is a prostitute (awarded "best sex in mouth" by the Almaty Chamber of Commerce, and rated the "number 2 and 3" prostitute in Kazakhstan) and the two of them like to pretend to be "husband and wife." He has a younger brother Vilo who has a son born with an unusually excessive amount of body hair who travels "in a tent"; and another brother who is mentally ill. Borat states that the latter has "small head, but very strong arm," and thus must be kept locked behind a metal door or in a cage.

His relationship with his mother seems to be unpleasant, and Borat has commented that "she wishes she was raped by another man." According to the Official Borat Homesite, he also has an 11-year-old son named Biram, who is the father of his two grandchildren. Borat has a pet pig Igor which he claims to love, although he and his family end up eating it (including its eyes).

Good morning Angel (that's me)

Woke up with a great smile this morning. What dreams did I have? No idea. Somehow this morning was the best morning I have experienced in a few weeks. There's no hang-over or clinging-to-the-quilt or oh-please-let-me-sleep-for-10-more-minutes. I hope this will be a good start for the day.

Pink gave a positive review to X-Men: The Last Stand which, of course, grew greater enthusiasm and excitement on me. I can't wait to watch it on Saturday. If you were to have mutant powers, what would you have?

And I am out for the day. Take care everyone. Don't let the winter blue get to you.

Incidentally my favourite fruit is ORANGE too! Can orange be the new blue? I certainly hope so. Blue is too overused. Especially hmmm, one of my friends (you know who you are).

There's something I don't like about guys wearing blue shirt and formal pants - very traditional and predictable and playing-too-safe! Don't get me wrong, not asking everyone to be shocking pink or striking lime-green or striping (I am trying to be inventive as I go along =O) rainbow. I just like to be different I guess.

Already need to start saving (I prolly will also procrastinate on this matter) for my office wardrobe...

Have you confessed?

Argh.... I am sulking!! Why isn't she coming to Australia?!!?! Madonna has kick-started Confession Tour. Provocative and attention-seeking as usual. She landed in L.A. with the giant disco ball. The video backdrop showed the X-ray from her horse incident. Drawing from that particular experience, there horse-riding was used as one of the themes in her concert. Along with that, we have the crucification, which has, and will sparked controversy among the religious groups. But every little thing she does...

More and more here.

Glad I did it

Hmmm, nice I went out for half a jog and half a walk this afternoon. Seizing the opportunity of a sunny day, there's only so much wetness and coldness a boi can take =P.

It was a good workout. Nice Carlton Garden, always tranquil in the midst of roaring and bustling engines.

Eelin, I saw the bridge!! I hadn't known its existence before you took the picture. Even so, I only knew that it was somewhere in the garden but never knew that it was where it was!!

7 wonders that I look forward to

What I would like to do (more)

1. Go out more - wanna go out dancing and drinking (without having to worry about $$$)

2. Make new friends
3. Keep old friends (getting hard)

4. Call home more frequently

5. Wake up earlier - have not been able to wake up early as I used to; I stay in bed for at least 30 minutes more than what I am used to be.
6. If I succeed in that, then I will be able to go to the gym more frequently and work on my abs, chest, shoulders and biceps etc

7. Read more story books. I have a few unfinished businesses with books. Some can date back to when I was in secondary school!

Alas

OK OK - the VAIN has spoken (if someone recalls, this is a line spoken by Monica in Season 10 of Friends where they had a late Thanks Giving - vein referred to as the popping vessel on Monica's forehead as she was mad). I gave in to my camera this morning. Not sure if you could really see though. Just treat this as a sneak peek.

Holy EGGS

Oh gosh I should be so lucky.

I came back from the gym and put 2 eggs into a pot with boiling water. Then I went back to my room to study.

Ya ya ya...

I totally forgot about it!!! When my sister came out of her shower she asked if I was cooking salted fish. Then I loudly said NO. Then she screamed that something was burning. I was shocked!! I couldn't even recall that I was cooking something on the stove when she yelled.

When I went out to the kitchen I went "FUCK!!". Swee San said, "You nearly cost $2000 for that". Turning around the apartment was smoky already!

Phew.... Oh gosh. I used to critisize people for leaving their cooking on the stove. It's my turn now. Talking about probability - now I believe in it more. Yucks...the apartment smells like a burnt toast now.

Lost 2 eggs and the lid of the pot. I should be made writing "I'll not do that again" for a million times.

Bits and pieces of an uneventful day

Hmmmm had a hair cut and highlighted my hair today...I really loved Yu Dai, I meant his skills =P. The several suckers at dinna complimented it so I guess he did fantastic then.

Have always wanted auburn on my hair ever since I saw the colour on Dennis' hair last year. It's not too bright - I've always disliked brightly dyed hair on Asian as they look grassy and dry, so dry. Can I appoint Yu Dai as my official hair stylist now? Btw, for people who want to get serviced by him, go to Millenium Lifestyle @ Melbourne Central, phone number 9639 1335.

My pay at the Health Service today was totally gone to the hair cut + colour. And I had actually had to pull more from own pocket 0. But it was worth it.

Also went to Melbourne Uni today to return a book. Miss it so much. It looked nicer somehow. Very in autumn (is that even correct grammatically?). And I went to the library trying to kill sometime before my hair appointment. Guess what? The girl opposite me and I were doing the same thing - only unknown was that who got a bigger fish.

Was also hungry before going for the hair appointment (had lunch at 1130 this morning) so I bought a cinnamon roll with chocolate chips. It was OK. But it reminded me of my Grandma. She used to buy that from 太平 everytime she went to there. Am not sure if I liked it but it sure reminded me of the past. It's gonna be the 7th anniversary soon, from the day she passed away in 1999. She is said to be the yeast of the family. Without her, we wouldn't have grown so much. It pains me that I didn't show her enough love while she was alive. I hope that doesn't happen with my parents.

That reminds me, there's something I gotta do when I go back to Tanah Merah in June/July.

Catch ya later. And o-u-t!

X-MEN: THE LAST STAND

x1. Wot has the director gotta say

x2. What is alf looking for? my love-of-all-time comic (prolly one and only?) the X-men. I still remember watching them since I was a teenager. I might not have realised then, we all had, and still do, have a common denominator. Being different is, first and foremost, being judged and discriminated against by the so-called normal people. Mutants are different to superheroes like the Superman, Batman, Wonder woman, Spiderman and more. Mutants are considered human genetic defect, in other words, inhuman. On some level I identify with them. Hence, I was overwhelmed to see all my favourite heroes on the big screen.

x3. alf's biasedness Despite Wolverine being made the main character in the trilogy, my affection is always towards Cyclops. Plus the character is played by James Marsden (from Ally McBeal). His epic love story with Jean Grey, goes beyond space, time and cosmic entities. Jean is coming back in the 3rd instalment as Dark Phoenix (however the story line, I think, is twisted from the original of how Jean turns from just Phoenix to Dark Phoenix). Nonetheless, I have always looked forward to Cyclops and Jean more than any other mutants.

x4. something that I hope is not true This could be the last X-men franchise movie WB has set out to do since the beginning. When I saw the official trailer last night, I was just overwhelmed and excited.

x5. May 25 2006!!! Check your listing here for Hoyts and Village.

x3

The launch of X3 officially ends my contract with Madge. Hence I'll work on a new mutant theme on my blog...watch the space.

My favourite movie series and movie star is back on the big screen! I reckon this is better than M:I:2, in the directorship and story line wise. John Woo has too fixed a style and the new director, J. J. Abrams, made his debut directorship of a feature film. He directed Alias before this. Good choice by Tom in choosing him. He slid in jokes and even discussion on relationship problem in places which you normally wouldn't expect. He did a brilliant job.

Some of the funny stuffs I remember was from the scene where Ethan was rushing against time (what else is new?) in a tight hallway in Shanghai - he yelled "让开" as he sped through. Good stuff. Also where Ethan and Jonathan were in Italy speaking Italian, where they caused a fake traffic jam.

And the CG and fight scenes. Wooh..I know why I have never really liked James Bond. It's just simply not as good as Ethan Hunt. And the BOND thing - just sound soooo old. In the opening scene in the industrial area to the helicopter and to the bridge and later to building jumping.

I can't actually say it's better than M:I:2 in the story department but M:I:3 steers back to team work rather than Individual Mission Force =P. The writing is good too - surprising twists and turns.

My rating is of course 5 stars. Well I am a TC fan. Normally when I go to a movie I'd play with my phone (either text of just to check if someone's called) during some climax-building or boring scenes. However M:I:3's just got the forget-about-my-phone kinda hotness! Can't wait for my DVD.

Love it!!

Doggie incident

Last night - I was in the lift with 2 other persons - a mother and a daughter I presumed. I saw a box-like thing behind them and I couldn't be bothered. The lift reached the 3rd floor and out I went. When I was opening the door, I got the shock of my life when I heard a dog bark. I was really shocked and for one moment I thought there was a monster behind me. I felt the hair on my back stand. And my heart just pumped so hard it knocked my rib cage.

Turning around there was a small-size dog barking furiously at me. Even though I am a dog person, getting barked by an unknown dog behind my back wasn't the most soothing thing to happen to someone. I was really pissed and embarrassed (well usually I'd have already screamed). I wanted to scold the dog owners badly. Damn...Vincent finally stopped as his masters summoned him back to the lift.

I know that dog. They should be living in apartment 61. I remember going past the apartment before and the dog just barks like mad. Oh, would be good if I could ask my Hazel, Almond and Koko to just stare at him - his tiny body shivers...I felt like kicking the dog man! Let it hit the wall.

This afternoon - I had another doggie incident, not directly hit by it I'd say, when I was already wet because of the pouring rain and small umbrella =P. I was going down the escalator, trying to catch a train to go back to Uni to hand in my assignment. Since the train was going to arrive in less than 1 min, I thought I should get into the fast lane of the escalator (you know where ppl rush down/up an escalator on the right side of it?). When I was nearing the floor, I was stopped because there were, I think, 3 people in front of me.

Normally I would have excused myself so that I could get past them and get to the platform. But somehow I didn't, maybe because I was almost there already. Suddenly a dog barked. I saw a Rottweiler kinda dog barking and hopping frantically in front. OMFG!!! I was terrified for myself, even though I shouldn't be because I wasn't the frontest person. The dog just kept barking and hopping around and it simply looked menacing!

The owner, just didn't care! I didn't hear "Shooosh, xxx!" or "Hey, shut up!". There were a couple of Connex employees at the vendor machine and they asked the owner to put the dog in a leash next time. Next time? Oh god, should he and the dog be stopped from going onto the train? I really think I should complain. The owner said something to rebut them - showing his disagreement and dissatisfaction being told off by someone.

Holy GOD/DOG!!! I'd really panic should any of the dog attack me. Especially the Rottweiler kinda dog. How could a person with an unleashed dog be allowed on a public transport!? Not to mention there were several ticket checkers at the ticketing machines. Were they blind?! Did they have no common sense whatsoever to stop the dog owner? Shocking...

And I am still recovering from the shock...And I just made a complain, reference number 21569.

Allow me, it's 01:02:03 (i.e. 2 minutes and 3 seconds past 1am) on May 4 2006!

I dunno which one but I read that one of the Malaysian newpaper had challenged the reader to send an SMS in exactly at that time (for some prize I reckon?) while counting down.

Reminder: Mother's Day May 14, 2006

M - O - T - H - E - R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
