羞耻 (updated)

OM FUCKING Malaysian Police Team - How can this have happened!!!?!!!!!!?!????? We already have had enough with one case - another one now?

Shame shame shame shame shame...I am so shameful to be called a Malaysian at this moment.

The police team - absolutely pay no attention to the anti-corruption campaign that has been started by Pak Lah when he came to position. What is more - don't you read newspaper!!!!?!!?!? One explanation could be that the police involved were Malay and this kinda news doesn't get too much exposure in Malay newspapers but Chinese.

Up to today, I dont think we have received any concrete report or punishment announcement on the first case. I can't tell you how disappointed and shameful I am...

(sorry for those who can't read Chinese, I still haven't found the article in any english newspaper)

{update: I think ALL the press have not been allowed to report on the development of the case}

{update: It's all a hoax - shame on you old lady!!! Apologies to the Malaysian Federal Police Team from down under. Report here.}

My un-favourite things

When the internet is supposed to be facilitating communication between human beings, I have found it annoying at times, especially on some IM systems.

It's simply irresponsible to halt a conversation leaving an impression or even explicit statement that it'd be resumed after a moment or two. However in fact, one party has to wait in vain.

What is more boiling, is that when one doesn't reply to a message. I understand that sometimes one is not at one's desk but it'd be nice to get back to the other party when one is back. I always apologize if I don't get back to someone on time. I think it's just a little polite gesture that is required on another being - respect and not being made like I am nobody.

The envy of the world - truly Melbourne

The magnificient flash light. John and Rusty (the comedians) were soooo great in warming the audience up.

The great man behind the great game - Lord Mayor John So.

Dame Edna couldn't be here so she sent her iconic glasses over from the US. The song below was written by her and it made the ceremony truly Melbourne.

This is the part I love the most. I Love Melbourne!!!

I think it was a great idea (with small flaw=P).

Swee San and I tresspassing the VIP areas after ppl flocked out the MCG. It's so surprising that ppl cleared the stadium in such a short time. By the time we came down from level 5, around 70% of the seats were emptied.

They were the mysterious hooded people I saw during the show. I tot Lord Voldemort was at the stadium!! (Anyone remember the International Quidditch from Harry Potter?)

We've Made the Most of Melbourne
We give our thanks
Upon the Yarra's banks
And possums that is why I'm up here tonight!
Oh yes
They made the most of Melbourne
Those pioneers of Melbourne
Our hats are off to them.
Let's praise
This city of surprises
Of culture and high-rises
Australia's crowning gem
Yes
We've proven here today
That Melbourne loves to play
And sport is not a sin
Once we cheered Olympic flames
And now we've held these games
And let some of you win!
Since
Those early settlers docked
A myriad folk have flocked
On work and pleasure bent.
And now the throng
Bursts into joyful song
To celebrate this Commonwealth event
Today
We've made the most out of Melbourne
Its origins were humble
But look at Melbourne now
Today
We've made the most of Melbourne
They said it couldn't happen
Well Melbourne take a bow!
This little spot called Melbourne
It's the city of my birth
It's not as hot as Brisbane or as far as Perth
It's not as small as Adelaide
Compared to Canberra, it's bliss
And if you've been to Melbourne
You can give Sydneya miss!
Today
We've made the most of Melbourne
And we can boast of Melbourne
A thousand flags unfurled.
Tonight
Let's drink a toast to Melbourne
The city of the future
The envy of the world.
As the world gets scarier
It's a pretty decent area
Melbourne
The envy of the world.

Can you guess what is this?

This strange-looking thing. It's actually good to have it somewhere in my (future) house to laugh about this thing. Imagine it with some white lilies with leaves intact...OK, I'll spare you the too-graphical imagination.

My Favourite Things

These are the pictures of my dogs - Hazel (Labrador Retriever), Almond (mixed) and KoKo (German Shepherd). I am missing them soooo much. I hope they are all doing very well at home under the care of Tiong Hoe.

Chocolate of unknown origin - has made all readers of my post dripping saliva and craving..I personally has declared it one of the 1001 things I must have before I die.
Beach, sun, breeze, sea, coconut trees, corals, fish - my ultimate breakaway option. I wish I could go to the Great Barrier Reef soon. And Haiti. And Mauritius (anything left there?). And Hawaii!

And how can I go to the beach without these fabulous trunks!!

Melbourne

Be careful you contact lens users!!

It's been reported that this particular contact lens solution has caused eye-related complications in Hong Kong and Singapore. Now the Malaysian government has ordered its withdrawal from the market.

This followed cases of fungal keratitis infection related to the contact lens solution. Fungal keratitis infection, which damages the cornea, could cause blindness and cataract.

For more information please go to 光明日报 and The Star.

Melbourne 2006

Am sooooo excited for the games!!!! It's too good to be true even though I am only attending the closing ceremony. Not interested in other events but swimming and diving. Unfortunately I couldn't afford the tickets ($220 each!) which were just released today.

My best wishes to all the athletes. I hope you break all the records! And I think I simply am not going to study (?) in the 2 weeks.

For the last time

There's no such a word as heaty in the dictionary which has been made to mean 身体热气 to the Chinese. Oh perhaps not until the western medicine fully appreciates the hot chi in our body.

On the other hand, I found out what the meaning of heath. And no wonder he (Heath) was cast for BBM - heath means an area of open wild land covered with rough grass and low plants.

Unfortunately this silly connection can't be strengthened by bringing in his last name. Ledger just means the book where entries regarding your account is recorded.

I needed this: from Ralph Marston

Today is the day that it all begins. This is the moment when your greatest possibilities start fervently coming to life.

You've dreamed, you've planned, you've hoped, you've slipped and gotten back up again. You've learned about your strengths and uncovered some of your weaknesses.

Now is when that wisdom and experience get put to good use. You know what must be done and today you're in a perfect position to do it.

There have been moments when you've known how very good life can be. This is the day for you to translate your highest visions into focused action and commitment.

Today, you truly understand like never before how unique and precious your life is. And today, you can feel the magnificent positive potential that is you.

This is a time that is like no other. This is your time to joyously fulfill the grand promise that is your life.

Poussard

How do you pronounce that as a person's name? Sorry I am making fun of the persons whoever have this name...

"oh, 救世救难观世音Poussard?"

or or or, what about if s/he is your boss and u gotta beg him/her, say for ur job?

"Oh (Mr./ Ms.) Poussard, please don't do this to me. I beg you (Mr./ Ms. Poussard), I beg you Poussard...". Now you dont even hv to go to a temple to pray anymore - there'll b someone at the office.

Who the hell eats these?

Even though I try to be fair (updated)

I can't help feeling anguished on behalf of BBM for not taking so many well-deserved (see notes) awards in the Oscar (full list of winners).

Notes:
1. I am actually not qualified to even voice this out due to I haven't watched any of the best movie nominees except Capote, which I didn't understand coz I slept through the movie. Philip Seymour Hoffman won the best actor even though I didn't quite understand the way he speaks portraying Truman Capote. The movie was utterly boring to me.

2. Crash - I dunno about y'all - but it seems like a bro/sis to Traffic, an earlier Oscar hot cake starring Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, among others. Seemed that the best movie nominees attacked different societal aspect like homosexuality (BBM), racism (Crash) and terrorism (Munich and Good Night, and Good Luck). They can reach to audience and perhaps educate some.

3. Had I watched BBM and Crash, I'd say that the academy board had no balls like the Golden Globe. With academy as such a mainstream critique body in the States it seemed a good idea not to acknowledge the gay side of our lives. There were also 60000++ signatures of opposition sent to the academy before the ceremony took place. Michelle Williams (the poor wife who couldn't turn her poor gay-and-like-to-fish-in-the-mountain husband =D) was declared by her primary school alumni that she'd have nothing to do with them.

To end, I like the gesture of Jack Nicholson while presenthing the best picture award. After announcing the fifth nominee, Good Night, and Good Luck he walked away pretending that the ceremony had indeed finished.

Also I must pay my admiration to Reese Witherspoon. She was the best actress from her performance in Walk the Line. She's very intellectual and puts high value on family concepts. She works hard. Personality wise and I hate to say this, she might be better than Julia Roberts. Her speech at the Oscar was one of the very best I have ever heard.

Good morning, and good day.

charmed uncharmed-ed (updated)

My sorrow is confirmed to be realised in May 2006 due to the ending of Charmed, one of my favourite TV series. Along with Friends and WAG (Will and Grace) and a million of things, all good things have to end.

{update: an interview with the producer Brad Kern on the offically confirmed news}
