Olympics and the fuss about it

Olympics is supposed to be about athletics. However, it's never lacked of political influences. The Olympics started off with religious background and worship. Today, like many other things, the Olympics Games are nothing more than the dollar sign. If held in the UK, it would mean more pound; if held in Malaysia (if ever!), it would mean more Ringgit; and the focus of the world now, more RenMinBi.

When it comes to China, Taiwan and Tibet are as prominent as the Great Wall. Unlike Hong Kong and Macao, Taiwan is the runaway bride, where the former opposition party Kuo Min Tang resides. It wasn't sold to foreign countries as a part of treaty. Therefore Taiwan, IMHO, is not much "shame of the country" as Hong Kong and Macao.

Tibet, however, is the radical state that wishes to be independent of the mainland. There's a Chinese saying "the emperor is far away from high mountains" (山高皇帝远), which I think suits Tibet quite well. China is so big and Tibet is in the far west. Ideally, I would like Tibet to be the holy land of China. It could become the religious land for China, like Mecca for the Arabian world.

My take on this is: Tibet doesn't have to be independent unless its people really want to. However, I do not agree with the way the Dalai Lama approach the US so that he can have a strong ally. I think this is the matter of the family (家事), we do not need an outsider's (外人) two-cent worth.

Dalai Lama has been perhaps inspired by the Pope. He wants a Vatican City for himself. He dreams of the Tibetan City. Don't you think the deal would be so extremely attractive? If Tibet is independent and hence can exert control over all temples in the world, he can be as rich as the Pope. Just imagine the flow of pound, USD, AUD, Franc, RM, Rupee, RMB etc...

The Dalai Lama is, in my opinion, the worst of Buddhist possible. Buddhism is about 贪-痴-嗔 (greed-stubbornness-anger). His pursuit of Tibetan independence, no matter how beautifully sugar-coated, is explicitly personal greed. The insistence of this pursuit is the demonstration of stubbornness (执着). Yea yea, you are doing for the Tibetan people. Just like how Osama bin Laden is doing great things for his people. How can the Dalai Lama escape the pain in the wheel of death and reborn (轮回) when he's so immersed in this anti-liberation-from-karma chaos. I thought he should have been so clear and enlightened about all of this after being reborn 14 times?

The US definitely sees this as the golden opportunity in strengthening its political flagpole in Asia. Where else is more convenient then the right and left of China - Taiwan and Tibet? 左右逢源 has never been used in this way until now. Just like how it stretches its imperialism claws in Southern American and the Middle Eastern countries, those claws are scratching sharper than ever on the Chinese sides.

Is it fair that other countries boycott China because of this? Is China strong enough now to say "I don't care if you boycott me"? French has gone ahead and boycotted China for the Olympics opening. Almost every western country like to stick their arrogant big noses in China's human right issues. Isn't that the same as Islamic extremists saying to western people, we don't like your women to expose themselves? You say to-MA-to, I say to-MAY-to.

Gave me a good scare this one. M. Night Shyamalan can't possibly direct any of the Harry Potter series - over my dead body! Dumbledore would awake from his white tomb and curse him to oblivion!

After The Sixth Sense, Shyamalan has produced, IMHO, the worst scripts ever. He may be good in directing, but please hire someone to do the storyline!

Luckily, the next 3 films of Harry Potter will be directed by David Yates, who also directed Order of the Phoenix. People often are divided between who remains faithful to be books and who is more creative and contributes more to characters development and style. I try not to be one of them because I just think there's no way of condensing 7 thick books into several hours of movies. Something's gotta give. I'm just glad getting some Potter love.

We all have a date with the cinema this November, when Half-Blood Prince makes his debut on the big screen. Yay!

Friend vs housewife

I just found out that Courteney Cox, aka Monica E. Geller-hyphen-Bing, was Desperate Housewives producer and creator Marc Cherry's first choice of Susan Mayer, played by Teri Hatcher now.

Awwww, now that I also heart Susan I am not sure if Courteney would have been better than Teri. But I desperately want Courteney to re-reign another comedic role. I really miss Monica - for I always find myself in the same shoe as the OCD Monica.

Maybe this is for the better. Jennifer Aniston has never been able to play a role that's critically different from Rachel Greene. And the fact that she's still appearing on magazine covers, sadly, has to do with the fact that people think she is still miserable being the Pitt-Jolie divorcee. Courteney starring in a more dramatic role in Dirt, being a gossip magazine editor, is perhaps better than Along Came Polly, The Break Up etc..

So glad that I'll be able to download new Desperate Housewives tonight. Due to lack of drama in my poor sad life, let's hope the sassy ladies bring back more juicy bits to the neighbourhood.

The War on Democrazy

The video clip is a bit long but I think it's worth spending the 90 mins on something which is very important.

The War on Democracy depicts how the US exerts its pretentious democratic claws and benefits itself in the name of national-interest.

By the end of this clip, if so many lives have been taken by the US government, I can't help feeling that 911 was justified. The American people are all in the dark and ignorant about their own government. Close too 3000 people died in Washington but how many more have died in Latin America and the Middle East?

I think he's just trying to advance his position in UMNO - for his personal interest (again) - to degrade Abdullah even further.

For me, BN will not do it any further for me. A coalition of racial parties will not go any further than using racial causes for their own benefits. I was arguing with PJ - I told her I would want Anwar to be the next PM and she disagreed. I still believe that it was Mahathir that strategized and made Anwar go to jail. Anwar's party will have to represent Malaysian people instead of Malay (UMNO), Chinese (MCA) and Indian (MIC).

As per Tengku Razali - he said that UMNO should also fight for other races yet he attended "通過巫統恢复馬來人主權 " talk. The reason why UMNO people still hold onto their clutches is because they want to rely on the major race of the country. I do not envision there to be a day when there's no UMNO MPs who does not abuse their Malay aboriginal rights to their advantage.

What I think Tengku Razali should focus on (if he's all that clean himself) is his third point: 巫統領袖道德有問題. That couples with abusing aboriginal rights, is why we have to abolish UMNO, MCA & MIC altogether and come together as BN.

He did say one thing that is close to my heart: 巫統被一群極端的馬來人領導，對其它種族不滿時就高舉馬來劍. The Malay sword argument is the argument I hate the most. Which idiot said it? Of course it had to be Khairy, our beloved son-in-law of the PM. If I had the chance, I would kill him with that sword myself.

The Pregnant Man on Oprah

You may have read about it on the news but here's the premiere of the interview that the Queen of all talk shows had with Thomas, the pregnant man. 7 clips altogether. Thanks to Just Jared for mentioning it.

Amazing story and a real shock - never thought it would happen so soon. I remember reading about a without-uterus man getting pregnant in his stomach in papers years ago. They were exploring the possibility.

The interview confirmed my suspicion about Thomas - his originality. I thought he didn't look Caucasian when I first saw his picture on Advocate.com.

I'm not so much of a person who supports fully the notion of just because we have the right to have children, we must explore all means to do that. I believe children themselves, but I don't know how, do have a say as to whether they want to be born. So am I talking about the possibility of a child suing his/her parents?

Anyway, T&T are an amazing and courageous couple, not to mention loving and committed. Thomas really is someone that's comfortable with himself now and Tracy also supports him fully. Let's wait to see their daughter in June/July 2008!

The interview also answered my question about what would testosterone do to a woman and her lady parts. The martial arts trainer that Thomas dated before must be having a good laugh. It's quite hilarious to think about their conversation: You walk like a man, talk like a man - go put on some make up!
